Funérailles de Madame Marie Yolande Théodat : Adieu Yolande !

Le samedi 4 décembre 2021, la communauté crucienne et ses amis ont rendu un dernier hommage à la regrettée Mme Marie Yolande Théodat à la paroisse St Matthieu de Brooklyn. Le célébrant principal et l’homéliste de cette cérémonie eucharistique d’adieu était le Père Jean Ralph Riccardy Pompée Théodat, le 2ème fils de la regrettée Mme Marie Yolande. Une couronne de 16 prêtres, dont Monseigneur Pierre André Pierre, Directeur du Centre National de l’Apostolat Haïtien et le Père Frank Black, Curé de la Paroisse St Mathieu, étaient présents à cette cérémonie de la célébration de la vie de Mme Marie Yolande Théodat.
Marie Yolande, cette mère très soucieuse pour ses enfants, très respectueuse et très silencieuse est une grande fierté pour la communauté crucienne et un grand modèle pour les jeunes mères de notre communauté.
La Chorale Haïtienne de la Paroisse St Mathieu du diocèse de Brooklyn performait avec beauté et dignité à cette célébration eucharistique. La communauté crucienne de plusieurs états des États Unis et du Canada avaient compris l’importance de venir payer leur dernier respect à la dépouille de leur sœur Marie Yolande Théodat.
Vous pouvez comprendre la tristesse de cette famille et du Père Théodat qui a été le célébrant principal et l’homéliste des funérailles de sa mère. On dit souvent qu’un fils est adulte quel que soit son âge, après la mort de sa mère. Jésus aussi était souvent triste devant la mort de ses proches. Le Père Théodat, en peu de mots, a prononcé une homélie en 4 langues (créole, espagnol, anglais, italien) parce qu’on avait des membres de 4 communautés à cette messe d’adieu. Il nous a dit dans son homélie que « Beaucoup de gens pensent que l’histoire de la vie humaine est ‘‘Naissance, vie et mort’’. Pour un chrétien, c’est différent. L’histoire n’est pas ‘‘Naissance, vie et mort’’ mais plutôt ‘‘Vie, mort et résurrection’’ ». Il continua pour nous dire que « Nous prions aujourd’hui pour Marie Yolande afin qu’elle achève le voyage vers le ciel. Priez pour elle et pour vous ! ».
En outre, le Père Théodat a cité dans son homélie les paroles de l’Ecclésiaste : « Il y a un temps pour tout et une saison pour chaque activité sous le ciel. UN TEMPS pour naître… et un TEMPS pour MOURIR. » tout en soulignant que « il fut un temps où Marie Yolande a été baptisée, confirmée, mariée, a eu une fille et 3 fils, a travaillé dur pour subvenir aux besoins de la maison et de la famille. Pour elle, tout est maintenant terminé dans ce monde. C’est maintenant le temps, c’est aujourd’hui le temps pour nous de commémorer sa vie, un temps pour pleurer et se souvenir… et remercier Dieu de nous l’avoir donnée et de l’avoir ramenée chez elle à l’endroit que le Seigneur Jésus prépare même maintenant pour ceux qui l’aiment ».
Le Père Théodat insista aussi sur le fait qu’« il y a un temps pour mourir ; mais aussi un temps pour ressusciter ; un temps pour être arraché de nos tombes par notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ pour vivre avec Lui pour l’éternité. Et alors il n’y aura plus de temps pour le péché, le chagrin ou les larmes. Il n’y aura plus de saisons. Plus de mort. Car les premières choses ont disparu ».
De son côté, Monseigneur Pierre André Pierre, dans son court message, a présenté au nom du Centre National de l’Apostolat Haïtien à l’étranger et en son nom des condoléances sincères à son confrère dans le Sacerdoce le Père Théodat et aux membres de sa famille. « Manman yon Pè, se Manman tout Pè ». Il a aussi souligné la provenance diversifiée de 14 prêtres haïtiens présents à la messe des funérailles, symbole du lien très fort qui doit mobiliser sans cesse le clergé haïtien à l’étranger et les unir dans l’apostolat au servir du Christ et de la communauté.

On December 4, 2021, the People from Croix-des-Bouquets, known as “the Crucian Community” and their friends paid a last tribute to the late Mrs. Marie Yolande Théodat in the parish of St Matthew. The Celebrant and homilist of this Eucharistic Farewell ceremony was Father Jean Ralph Riccardy Pompée Theodat, the 2nd son of Mrs. Marie Yolande Théodat. A crown of 16 Priests including Monsignor Pierre André Pierre, the Director of the National Center for the Haitian Apostolate and Father Frank Black, the Parish Pastor of St Mathieu were present at this ceremony of the Celebration of the life of Mrs. Marie Yolande Théodat.
Marie Yolande, this mother very concerned for her children, very respectful and very silent, is a great pride for the Crucian community and a great model for the young mothers of our community.
The Haitian Choir of the Parish of St Mathieu of the Diocese of Brooklyn performed with beauty and dignity at this Eucharistic celebration. The Crucian Community of several states in the United States and Canada have understood the importance of coming to pay their last respects to the remains of their sister Marie Yolande Théodat.
You can understand the sadness of this family and of Father Theodat who was the celebrant and homilist for his mother’s funeral. It is often said that a son is an adult regardless of his age after the death of his mother. Jesus was also often sad at the death of his loved ones. Father Theodat in a few words delivered a homily in 4 languages because we had members of 4 Communities at this Farewell Mass. He tells us in his homily that Many people think of the history of human life as “Birth, life and death”. For a Christian it is different. The story is not “Birth, life and death, but rather “Life, death and resurrection.” He continued to tell us: “We pray today for Marie Yolande so that she may complete the journey to heaven. Pray for her and for yourselves”!
Father Théodat also quoted in his homily the words of the Ecclesiastes: “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. A TIME to be born … and a TIME to DIE.” There was a time when Marie Yolande was baptized, confirmed, married, had a daughter and 3 sons, worked hard to provide for the needs of the house and the family. For her, all that is now over in this world. Now is the time, today is the time for us to commemorate her life, a time to cry and remember … and thank God for giving her to us and bringing her home to the place that the Lord Jesus is preparing even now for those who love him”.
Fr Théodat insisted that “there is a time to die; but there is also a time to rise; a time to be plucked from our graves by our Lord Jesus Christ to live with Him for eternity. And then there will be no time for sin, sorrow, or tears. There will be no more seasons. No more death. For the former things have disappeared”.
Monsignor Pierre André Pierre, in his short message, presented on behalf of the National Center for the Haitian Apostolate Abroad and on his behalf sincere condolences to his colleague in the Priesthood, Father Jean Ralph Riccardy Pompée Ralph Théodat and to the members of his family. “Mother of A Priest, Mother of All Priests.” He also underlined the diverse provenance of the 14 Haitian priests present at the funeral mass, a symbol of the very strong bond which must constantly mobilize the Haitian clergy abroad and unite them in the apostolate in the service of Christ and of the Church community.

¡Hermanos y hermanas ! ¡Recuerden ! La vida es un viaje, un viaje desde el nacimiento hasta la muerte. Hay demasiadas personas hoy en día que no se toman en serio su caminar espiritual.
Están corriendo como si LA VIDA FUERA un gran juego. No están pensando en su destino de comparecer ante el tribunal.
No están orando, no están leyendo la Biblia, no están creciendo en su fe, no están llegando a la iglesia el domingo, y muchos de ellos están obstinadamente encerrados en varios pecados mortales y no arrepentidos. Y no van a estar listos.
Rezo para que eso no sea cierto para nadie aquí, pero si lo es, simplemente digo: “VUELVETE A JESÚS… ¡ARREPIÉNTETE, DALE TU VIDA”!
Hoy, como elogiamos Marie Yolande al cuidado de Dios, le pedimos que duerma ese sueño de paz en la presencia de Dios.
