Le 24 juillet 2023 sera le 12e anniversaire de l’accident du Père Antilus Jean Fresnac à la paroisse St Isidore de La Gonâve. Le Père Antilus était le curé de cette paroisse à l’époque. Depuis lors, le Père Antilus a eu 2 interventions chirurgicales mais jusqu’à date, pour des problèmes de santé, il n’est pas en mesure de continuer à exercer son ministère dans la prêtrise.
L’année du 340e anniversaire de la paroisse Notre-Dame du Rosaire de la Croix-des-Bouquets est une année de réflexion et de méditation afin de voir ensemble comment nous pouvons mieux suivre les traces ou faire la volonté du Christ qui avait accordé une grande priorité dans son ministère aux pauvres et aux malades. Ces derniers sont obligés de vivre de façon différente. La maladie nous permet de constater combien nous sommes vulnérables comme êtres humains créés à l’image de Dieu. Le chemin qui mène au Christ ce n’est pas le chemin de la gloire c’est plutôt le chemin de la souffrance, de l’incomprehension , des déceptions et de la trahison. Le Christ au calvaire est encore le Christ d’aujourd’hui que nous continuons à sacrifier avec nos indifférences, notre hypocrisie, , notre attitude de Ponce -Pilate, par notre facon de supporter le Status Quo par notre grand silence sur le faux pretexte que le Silence est une forme de résistance, avec le fossé qui existe entre nous et les plus vulnérables et les gens qui souffrent.
Rappelons que le Père Antilus Jean Fresnac est l’un des prêtres originaires de la Croix-des-Bouquets . Il a été ordonné prêtre le dimanche 17 novembre 1996 pour l’archidiocèse de Port-au-Prince. Il a donc presque de 27 ans de prêtrise. Il est un ancien vicaire de la paroisse St Charles à Carrefour. Il est connu comme un prêtre doué de grandes relations humaines et qui a un grand amour pour sa terre natale et pour notre mère l’église catholique.
Le Père Antilus est le 7e prêtre de l’Église Catholique Romaine originaire de la Croix-des-Bouquets. Depuis juillet 2011 vous pouvez comprendre sa situation ; lui qui a répondu à l’appel de Dieu dans la vie sacerdotale et qui est incapable d’exercer son ministère depuis le 24 juillet 2011 pour raison de santé à la suite d’un grave accident. Le Père Antilus sait qu’il n’est pas seul en ce moment difficile de sa vie, il connait le grand amour et la compassion que Jésus a manifesté à l’égard des malades, de toutes les personnes souffrantes. Jésus de Nazareth avait toujours fait de l’apostolat des malades l’une des priorités de son ministère sur terre. Combien parmi nous veulent vraiment suivre les traces de Jésus en prenant le temps pour prier et supporter un parent ou une famille qui vit des moments difficiles, un ami qui est malade ou qui a perdu son emploi, un inconnu ou un confrère dans le sacerdoce qui est malade ? C’est surtout dans des moments difficiles qu’on reconnait les vrais amis.
Le Jésus de Nazareth qui a guéri et a donné l’espoir aux personnes malades, aux affligés et aux opprimés est encore vivant dans ce monde cruel et rempli d’hypocrisie, qui a tendance à minimiser ou à ignorer trop souvent la souffrance d’autrui, notamment les problèmes des malades et des vieillards. Ces derniers ainsi que les pauvres sont parmi les grandes victimes de la globalisation de l’indifférence que nous vivons aujourd’hui. La culture de réussir à tout prix ou de se considérer supérieur aux autres peut nous rendre insensible aux cris et à la souffrance des autres. Nous venons en aide parfois à nos amis ou à des personnes de certaines institutions, juste pour prouver que nous sommes généreux ou renforcer nos liens d’amitié avec ces personnes.

July 24, 2011 – July 24, 2023: 12 years already!
July 24, 2023 will be the 12th anniversary of the accident of Father Antilus Jean Fresnac at the parish of St Isidore de La Gonâve. Father Antilus was the pastor of this parish at the time. Since then, Fr. Antilus has had 2 surgeries but to date, due to health issues, he is unable to continue ministering in the priesthood.
The year of the 340th anniversary of the parish of Notre-Dame du Rosaire de la Croix-des-Bouquets is a year of reflection and meditation in order to see together how we can better follow in the footsteps or do the will of Christ who had given great priority in his ministry to the poor and the sick. They are forced to live differently. Illness allows us to see how vulnerable we are as human beings created in the image of God. The path that leads to Christ is not the path of glory, it is rather the path of suffering, misunderstanding, disappointment and betrayal. Father Antilus Jean Fresnac is one of the priests from Croix-des-Bouquets. He was ordained a priest on Sunday, November 17, 1996 for the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince. The latter, along with the poor, are among the great victims of the globalization of indifference that we experience today. The culture of succeeding at all costs or considering oneself superior to others can make us desensitized to the cries and suffering of others. Let us take advantage of this 12th anniversary of the accident of Reverend Father Antilus Fresnac to ask the Lord for forgiveness for our indifference towards the sick, the elderly and the poor while transforming our hearts of stone into hearts of flesh in order to help us be more sensitive and generous towards the needy.
